Privately, I thanked Duo as he had left the window open for me and I made a small jump onto the ledge. He's made my job easier, once again. It's funny how much better my life has gotten since the strange American entered, nay, barged into it, gun firing and all. I'm almost disappointed to find him gone from my room. I was hoping I could continue my teasing him. As I walked away from the window, I noticed that my computer's screen is flashing, indicating a new message. Heading towards the computer, I slough off my remaining clothing, leaving my room in disarray. Naked, I sit at the computer and slide the disk into it, ignoring the message. Giving it a brief glance, I saw that it was from Duo, so I knew it could wait until I sent the coded information to J.. While the transfer ran, I realized I still donned the little white maid's hat. With a short chuckle, I reached up and pulled the damn thing off, throwing it to the floor. Duo seemed to really like the outfit. With his upbringing, I'm surprised he didn't have a heart attack when he saw what Dr. J had planned. At least the silly costume served its purpose well, distracting Zechs from the fact that there was a stranger in his room late at night. I only hope Duo doesn't get too offended by the more questionable stuff I'm forced to do. Huh...why do I care what he thinks?
A loud beep distracted my thoughts and I turned my attention back to the computer. The transfer was done. I deleted the information from the disk and went to read the message from Duo.

Nice email address...ED! Anyway, if you've gotten this email, nice work on a mission well done. I've already transferred the two of us from the school. We have no new school projects to work on, unless our teachers J and D decide to be pricks and ruin our summer vacations. Pack up, and meet me at the local diner once you get this message. Be quick, or you'll see what too much caffeine does to me and my school-damaged mind, as I'll be drinking coffee in the dingiest corner I can find there as I wait.
Love ya, sugar daddy!
P.S. Keep the outfit, I like it.
P.P.S. Very Much.
P.P.P.S. Ed? What the fuck were you thinking?
P.P.P.P.S. Nice legs.
I chuckle a bit at his last remarks before deleting the email. Perhaps he's not as prudish as I originally thought. I would have thought he would have been offended by my mode of dress this evening. Must be why I actually like Duo, he surprises me sometimes. Him and that odd girl Relena both get under my skin in the strangest of ways...I muse over these two as I grab a towel and head for the showers. Much as the prospect of having to deal with a jittery Duo aggravates me, I doubt he would appreciate me coming to see him reeking of expensive alcohol and sex.
A half hour later, and I'm already at the door of the 24-hour diner that Duo enjoys so. He says they have the best coffee, but I think it's the sweet pastries they sell that he's after. Ah, there he is, sitting in a booth in the corner. He doesn't acknowledge me as I'm coming towards him and he runs a fork languidly along the plate in front of him. Chocolate sauce makes a messy track around the plate as he gazes out the window into the night, supporting his chin in one hand. All this time, waiting for me. Somehow that makes me nervous and comforted at the same time. It's obvious he's waited a while, there are many creamers piled on the table next to his coffee cup. He doesn't use much per cup of coffee. I walk up to the edge of the table, but he still hasn't answered to my presence. He's either ignoring me for a moment as he sifts his thoughts, or he's simply exhausted. I reach out to brush my hand against his, barely touching him and he starts, jumping out of his quiet state.
"Duo" I speak, hardly wanting to distract myself from watching his unguarded actions. The young man in front of me languidly stretches and yawns. I sit in the booth across from him before I'm tempted to touch him again. Still arching his back in a stretch, he gives me a small smile and scratches his stomach a little. Damn, he's cute, I think, my mouth going slightly dry.
"Hey, Heero. Good to see you." The glint in those near-violet eyes tells me he knows how I feel about him now. Why I couldn't come out and say it just yet, I don't know. Perhaps it was a gradual thing, but it's there. And for or better or worse, I sense Duo feels the same.
"You want something to eat? Or should we take off?" He asks, and I consider my options carefully. Neither hungry or thirsty, I suppose my other option is simply leaving with him. Suddenly, I realize that he's saying we're leaving together. Is it a mission that requires both of us?
"Are we on call for a mission together?" I whisper even though there aren't many in the diner, and the look on my face made him snicker. He shakes his head, then takes a sip of his coffee, pushing it to the side.
"Heero, it's not a mission, it's a vacation. We're off to a resort for about a week. Something I planned, with a little help from a friend." I pull the cup towards me to see if he has anything left to drink. I guess I am a bit thirsty as I lick my lips and consider drinking the last sip of coffee there. I look up at him, and he's already getting a cup for me from an elderly waitress.
"That's mine, Heero" he grasps the coffee cup away from me before it reaches my lips. He downs the last gulp and grimaces at the coldness and flavor.
"Anyway, some kid thought this place was nice...beaches, a bar that doesn't card, nice and sunny climate. Perfect for two boys waiting until class to start." Strange way of describing awaiting new missions for either of us, but I guess it's good enough. The waitress brings a pot of coffee and a new cup for me. Duo thanks the woman for both of us as I start pouring cream into the steaming cup. I wonder if the place has enough storage for our gundams when Duo pipes up again. He interrupts my thoughts as I'm pouring sugar into my coffee.
"And since Howie's got a place there, we have no worries about parking!" I smile...Duo thought of everything this time. I nod and stir the coffee, some spills over the edge and I catch the errant drop with my finger and lick it off. When I hear a small gasp, I look at Duo, and his cheeks are slightly flushed. I smirk and he returns his attention to the coffee in front of him. I lean over and blow onto my own drink when I feel a foot massaging my inner calf. While I'm flattered by Duo's attention, I don't quite agree with the venue he's chosen to be a flirt. I give him a swift kick to the shin to get him to back off and he jumps and scowls. Oops...perhaps I used a bit too much force in that kick.
"Duo, not in front of the straights" I speak in my normal tone of voice to get a reaction just as he's drinking coffee and I'm treated to the sight of him doing a lovely spit take and exploding into laughter. I chuckle in response. It's nice to hear him relax and laugh like that, it fills the drab diner with his wild sense of humor. He coughs a little and brings himself under control.
"Heh, it's good to see you developing a sense of humor, Heero" he says, his eyes bright with something I can't quite describe. Our gazes meet from across the table for a brief moment. He's so beautiful, it's not just the way he looks either. Just as that thought hits me, something deep inside my chest twists, clenches around, causing my emotions to swirl uncomfortably. I break away from the look he's giving me and take a sip of my coffee, willing my mind to come up with a change in subject before I embarrass myself.
"This vacation sounds good. When do we leave?" I don't bother asking how we're paying for this, I already know Duo handles his finances. Oz doesn't excel in bookkeeping by any margin, so they help finance most of our actions. Given the thief he used to be, I wouldn't be surprised if Duo wasn't well off.
"Tonight, got a shuttle headed towards the Bahamas leaving in 2 hours." He tells our waitress to bring the bill as she passes by, carrying dishes to other customers.
"Are you ready to leave for our new destination?" Duo leans close, not wanting to speak loudly as a couple are seated by the hostess into a booth across the aisle from us. I glance at the couple, Duo was smart to be quiet. I recognize the woman to be a member of the local OZ youth groups. She notices my staring at the pin on her chest indicating such and gives me a wink. Apparently she thinks I was staring at her more feminine attributes. I dismiss her wink with a frown and she returns her attention to her boyfriend who didn't notice the strange communication between the two of us. Turning my attention to the 2 gray bags I dumped on the seat next to me, I give Duo a brief nod. I see Duo's ready himself, though he has more things to carry, three bags in all. The waitress brings in our check, giving Duo a sweet smile, and getting one in return.
"My treat!" Duo says before I reach for it, and I let him. Draining the coffee from both our cups quickly, we get up, hoisting our luggage on weary shoulders. I lag behind Duo as he walks up to the front counter to pay the bill. As his bill is being paid, Duo eyes a large pile of chocolate chip cookies that always sits on the counter. I watch as his hand darts out and takes a few for himself. I find myself hungry, and I look at the pile myself before taking two for myself. As an afterthought, I grab another and start eating it. Hearing a slight chuckle, I look up to see Duo smiling at me incredulously.
"Hn. Hungry" I grunt, making Duo laugh as he pulls me out the door. I return the hostess's wave with a small one of my own. During the time I've been here, a little over three weeks, Duo has been dragging me here almost every night. I hate to admit it, but I just might miss this place. As I'm being led by the hand, I take one last look, drinking in the drab landscaping, the smoky texture of the walls, and neon lights, and creaky chairs. Most important, the sound of Duo's laughter ringing through its interior. Perhaps I'll return someday.
I'm broken out of my stupor by the sound of Duo hailing a taxi. An ancient yellow vehicle pulls up to the sidewalk by him, and he dumps his luggage into the trunk.
"Heero, time to go, big guy" he says, tugging at the shoulder straps of my duffel bag. He knows better than to touch the bag that he knows holds my computer and more essential goods. I let the bag drop into his waiting hands and head towards the passenger door. I realize how tired I am, as I move stiffly into the seat and place my bag by my feet. My body is sagging, heavy, but I resist the urge to fall asleep just yet. I look over at Duo as he tells the driver to head towards the nearest shuttle station. Through sleepy eyes, I gaze at the boy sitting at the other end of the cab seat. Duo only smiles at me, giving me the slightest touch to the arm with his boot as he lounges, his whole body relaxing. I force myself to stop staring at those lips of his. He draws my hands into his and kisses each one in turn.
"You can kiss me, if you like, Heero Yuy" he states, as if he's been waiting for me to do just that. Perhaps he has, and I wait no longer for the opportunity to kiss those lips of his. Slowly, I crawl up the seat until I am on top of him, our faces a breath's away from each other.
"Please, Heero" Duo pleads, his voice soft, but desperate at the same time. Our noses are touching, and I find myself breathing him in, trying to draw the moment out as long as possible. The heat from his body reaches me and his arms enfold me in a snug embrace. I feel myself shiver, but it's not because the air conditioning was high in the cab.
Finally, our lips meet in the lightest touch. Funny, I thought our first kiss was going to be a frantic, rushed, lusty event. Nothing like this, it was sweet, loving. Duo's hand reached up to play with my hair, so I took a hold of his braid as if it were a lifeline. The kiss grew more passionate as I opened my mouth, hoping Duo would take advantage. Tentatively, his tongue slips inside, exploring the cavern of my mouth. I moan, incoherent, as Duo's taste invades my mouth, it is both sweet and all too human. I can taste the coffee and chocolate he'd consumed earlier, with an underlying flavor that I can't define. Finding him addictive, I brush my tongue against his lightly, wanting to play a little before the moment is over. Duo moans and shivers against me, and he responds beautifully to the caress of our lips and tongue. We lay like that for a few minutes, kissing passionately until weariness enfolds me like a heavy blanket. I break apart from those talented lips, panting heavily.
A minute passes by, both of us wide-eyed and breathing heavily. As if we were surprised by this rush of emotions, yet both of us knew this would happen. I just wasn't prepared to feel this deeply about him. I blink....damn, what am I doing? One kiss from Duo and I've become a poet. My reverie is broken by Duo's soft chuckle. I look up at his face and he's smiling. Poetry doesn't do him justice, I think as I return the smile.
"Heh, you look like you could use some shut-eye" he says, his voice soft and tinged with his own good humor. The moment I've been waiting for is over, the door to a new relationship with this person is open and I have rushed across the threshold with my eyes wide open. Numb with the strength of my own emotions, I nod and find a comfortable position in his embrace. My head is tucked under his chin. "Go to sleep, Heero, I'll wake you when we arrive" are the last words I hear from him as a gentle hand smoothes over my hair, relaxing me so I may sleep. I hope I dream of his eyes as I remember them, dancing with humor and wit. So I do.
